Healthcare in the Brazilian jungle thanks to the renovation of our CTA infirmary

Our hospital in the village of CTA in Brazil's Amazon rainforest provides healthcare in the jungle and has just been renovated. The team led by our master builder Hosti Jose, who built this - TARGET e. V. Rüdiger Nehberg's first infirmary - himself in 2002, did a great job with the extensive renovation work. The photos give you a small impression.

Renovation of the infirmary - what was done?

The treatment building and the medical team's residential building were extensively renovated. The facades and walls were given a deep clean and a new coat of paint. The electrics, in particular the photovoltaic technology and the power supply system, were also overhauled. In addition, the floor, which was previously made of wood, was removed and replaced with a brick and tiled floor. Repairs were also made to the foundations and wooden fittings. In the kitchen, the sink unit was demolished and rebuilt, and an outdoor cooking area was added to the outside of the house. Some door handles and locks were replaced, new mosquito screens were fitted and existing wooden furniture was sanded down and repainted. As part of the renovation, some of the older electrical appliances such as the fridge, stove and freezer were also replaced by our cooperation partner, the Brazilian Ministry of Health.

Good health care for the Waiãpi is the basis for their life in the forest. Especially in times of coronavirus, it is important that the indigenous people have to travel to the city as little as possible, where they could become infected.

Many thanks to you, because your donations make this work possible in the first place! "Obrigado" & "Iete" ("Thank you" in Portuguese and in Waiãpi) also to the apoBank Foundation for their generous support specifically for this renovation work.
