TARGET board member Sophie Weber was invited to comment on the meaning of an article of the Basic Law. As a board member of TARGET e. V., she chose Article 9 on the subject of freedom of association and freedom of association.
"This article of the Basic Law is the foundation of TARGET e. V. Rüdiger Nehberg. It guarantees the right to social engagement: everyone can do something, get involved in issues that are important to them. True to the guiding principle of our association: "No one is too small to change the world." - Rüdiger Nehberg.
Involvement in associations is an important cornerstone of our social coexistence and responsibility, above and beyond the government's commitment. It makes Germany colorful and our population active do-gooders.
Based on this article, my family is working with TARGET e. V. Rüdiger Nehberg as a registered association for two global issues: (1) to end the cruel custom of female genital mutilation in Africa and worldwide and (2) indigenous peoples - the guardians of the forest - with e.g. health projects and to protect their Amazon rainforest. My foster father Rüdiger Nehberg, adventurer and human rights activist, and my mother Annette Nehberg-Weber, medical assistant and human rights activist, founded the association out of our living room in 2000. Today, we are successfully working for people and nature with many supporters worldwide.
