Two medical stations deep in the Amazon rainforest will support the guardians of the forest!
400 families of the indigenous Munduruku people are to benefit
We have received permission to build two health stations for the indigenous Munduruku people deep in the Amazon rainforest. Our network to protect the indigenous people and their forest is becoming denser. Because as long as the guardians of the forest live on site, it is largely protected. We invite you to realize this project with us.

Where is the protected area located?
The indigenous protected area of the Munduruku is located in the northern state of Pará in Brazil. It covers 2,382,000 hectares and is home to over 6,500 indigenous people. They refer to themselves, for example, as Wuyiuyu (ours) or Bebengokre-Kaiapo.

What is the current state of healthcare?
The indigenous people live very remotely in the Amazon rainforest. The nearest town outside the indigenous territory, Jacareacanga, is at least a nine-hour boat trip away (photo) via difficult, sometimes very narrow tributaries that are prone to capsizing. The nearest hospital is another 400 kilometers away on the unpaved Transamazônica highway (approx. 11 hours by car). The distance becomes an extremely strenuous to insurmountable challenge, especially in acute cases of illness.
What are we up to?
In order to continue to inhabit their territory and protect the forest, local care is an important basis. Diarrheal diseases, tropical infectious diseases such as malaria and dengue fever, but also snake bites and accidents need to be treated deep in the Amazon rainforest. Two new TARGET clinics will make this possible and thus improve the situation for the "guardians of the forest".

The stations are being built in the villages of Tawe Biatpu and Waro Apompo. They are about a seven-hour boat ride apart. Around 1,700 people are to be served by the two stations, almost 400 families.
