Caravan of hope | Rüdiger Nehberg | TEDxTUHHSalon

This talk was held at a local TEDx event and was produced independently of the TED conference. Rüdiger Nehberg fights against the crime of female genital mutilation with his human rights organization Target. He wants to put an end to this terrible tradition, which costs the lives of thousands of girls and women every year. In his lecture, he tells his breathtaking story, which takes him through deserts and conference rooms in Arab countries, and how he successfully shares his idea in Islam.

Rüdiger Nehberg, Germany's best-known survivalist and human rights activist, has declared war on the crime of female genital mutilation. Not in any way. But Survivor-style: against the zeitgeist and in close cooperation with Islam. And with his own organization (www.target-nehberg.de). It spares him discussions with doubters.

About TEDx

x = independently organized event in the spirit of "ideas worth spreading", TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, the combination of videos and live speakers stimulate deep discussions and connections in small groups. These local, self-organized events carry the TEDx brand, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference supports the TEDx program with general guidelines, but individual TEDx events are self-organized* (*with restrictions on certain rules and regulations)
