"No one is too small to change the world."
Rüdiger Nehberg
This is the motivation behind TARGET e. V.'s worldwide commitment to people and nature. The human rights organization was founded more than two decades ago by the well-known adventurer, survival pioneer and human rights activist Rüdiger Nehberg and his wife Annette. The family - wife Annette, daughter Sophie and son Roman - have been running the organization since 2020.
TARGET e. V. is a movement that, together with many supporters, pursues two goals:
- End female genital mutilation and help those affected
- Protecting indigenous peoples and the rainforest
How does TARGET work?
TARGET uses the power of religion and Islam as a partner to end genital mutilation. Because genital mutilation is wrongly justified with holy scriptures. This is where we come in with local and regional awareness campaigns. We also run a gynecology and obstetrics clinic for genitally mutilated girls and women in the Danakil Desert in Ethiopia.
To protect the indigenous peoples in Brazil, TARGET provides support in the form of medical treatment in specially built clinics in the indigenous peoples' protected area, free access to information and educational opportunities and border protection measures. Because only if the indigenous peoples live in the rainforest will it remain protected.
