In December, the Kirchheimbolanden Peace Days Award 2010 went to Rüdiger as "(...) the advocate of the oppressed, the poor, the rightless and the forgotten, who has rendered exemplary services to the protection of human rights". Kirchheimbolanden residents Elmar Funk, initiator of the Peace Days, District Administrator Winfried Werner, Mayor Klaus Hartmüller and ai group spokesperson Ludger Grünewald thus paid tribute to Rüdiger's life's work.
They wanted to bring his work in Brazil alongside the Yanomami against profit-hungry destroyers of the rainforest and the fight against the crime of genital mutilation carried out with Annette and TARGET to the attention of the public. "(...) your courageous swim against the social current of indifference, looking the other way and non-responsibility should be a role model for our youth," said Elmar Funk in his speech. The Peace Day Prize was awarded for the 36th time and was endowed with 2,500 euros.
